The Australian Wool Store Mountains to Mudgee Road Trip March 27 - 29

Mountains to Mudgee Road Trip!!!

I’m going on a road trip and I want you to join me 😊

Everyone loves a weekend away right? Let’s help our bushfire and drought affected areas by visiting the towns and spending some money.

My plan is to encourage as many people as possible to drive to a destination, shop, eat, drink, knit, crochet, stay a night and then do it all again.

The only involvement I have is planning the route and deciding on some of the meeting points.

You will have to organise your own accommodation in the chosen town or a nearby town and decide whether you want to travel on your own or organise a group to travel with.

We will have a group knit/crochet meetup on Saturday night at a venue that is able to offer us food, drink and comfy chairs. I will also be inviting local crafters to join us.

I’m mindful of the fact that there is a mix of people who work on Friday and people that don’t work on Friday so Friday night is your choice. I’ll try to keep the Friday night accommodation under 2 hours from Sydney and accessible by train.

Mountains to Mudgee Road Trip 27/28/29 March

Friday 27 - home (I'm based in Castereagh) to Blacheath – 40 min drive time via the Great Western Highway – meet for dinner/drinks/knitting in Blackheath. If you are leaving early on Friday, why not visit The Wool Inn at Penrith? The House of Wool in Leura is another must visit shop.

Saturday 28 - leave at 9/10am.
Blackheath to Rylstone – 1hr 30 mins drive time – morning tea and some yarn shopping at Convent and Chapel Wool Shop. Maybe we could have a knit/crochet meet up here? Maybe lunch at The Saffron Kitchen & Cafe?

Rylstone to Mudgee – 50min drive time – let's explore Mudgee and its surrounding areas. Knit/crochet meet up after dinner - we need a place to eat and craft - any suggestions?

Sunday 29 - leave at 9/10am.
Mudgee to The Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, Mount Tomah – 2 hr driving time – lunch and garden visit.
Mount Tomah to Bilpin to Sydney via Bells Line of Road. There's plenty of places to explore along Bells Line of Road so bring your esky and stock up on local produce.

Alternative route - why not drive home from Mudgee via Hill End and Sofala? They are both great places to visit.

Feel free to add suggestions for places to visit along the route.

I'll be leaving some #Lovebomb coasters at every pit stop to remind the locals that we care  If you'd like to make some too then visit Queen Babs Ravelry page to purchase the pattern.

If you or someone you know might be interested in joining us please share this post. If you know of any local crafters that might like to join us on Friday and/ or Saturday night please share this post with them.
