Eamon uses a couple of easy knitting techniques to create a beautifully finished
blanket.
The blanket is knitted in eight strips and joined using mattress stitch. The strips consist of eight blocks of colour with an off-centre textured pattern adding an extra element of interest.
The strips begin with a provisional cast on and the stitches at the other end are left on a thread.
The side borders are picked up and knitted out in garter stitch. The top and bottom borders are worked across the live stitches left at top and bottom after the strips are joined.
The borders have mitred corners, which are flat-seamed to create a neat finish.
There are four colours used in this blanket, but just two or three colours could also be used if desired.
The instructions include charted and written instructions for the textured detail and requires intermediate knitting skills.
It measures approx 102cm square after blocking.
